About Us

The Division of Vascular Surgery is the first and only such program in the country that can provide a holistic multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases and their complications. Employing state of the art imaging, skillful in both the traditional open surgery as well as in minimally invasive endovascular procedures, the vascular surgery service offers the patients the best possible option for the management of their conditions.

While the overall goal of the vascular surgery service is to provide excellent patient care, the underlying mission is to create an exciting environment for education and research. The vascular fellowship is the only existing program in the country.

Vascular Laboratory, Wound, and Ostomy Care Clinic

Committed to provide effective and convenient services to patients, the Vascular Laboratory, Wound and Ostomy Care Clinic is the first to conceptualize an integrated specialized clinic catering to both vascular diagnostics as well as wound and ostomy care.

Employed with well-trained medical staff and support group, it utilizes the most up to date vascular diagnostic tools at par with the world’s best. The clinic aims to deliver an expedient treatment to acute and chronic wounds in relation to trauma, varying diseases and even vascular in nature.

     In the past decades, wound care has become an increasingly important aspect of patient care in all practice settings and specialties.

Ostomy Care
    Every year, thousands of people have colostomy surgery. For some, the surgery is a life saving procedure, for others, the surgery relieves years of suffering from bowel disease. Whatever the medical reason, anyone who is going to have colostomy surgery has many questions and concerns. We at Ostomy Clinic are dedicated to a holistic service that may ease some of your concerns about living with a colostomy.

Offering the Most Advanced, Integrated, and Cost Effective Strategies for:

  • Diagnosis and evaluation of vascular disorders

  • Basic and advanced treatment of acute and chronic wounds

  • Care and protection of the stoma and peristomal condition.

Vascular Diagnosis:

Wound Care:

  • Acute surgical wound cleansing and dressing changes

  • Chronic ulcer evaluation and staging

  • Specialized wound dressing applications

  • Vacuum-assisted wound closure

  • Growth factor therapy

Stoma Care:

  • Pre-operative counseling and stoma marking

  • Ostomy appliance fitting and application

  • Peristomal skin care

In addition to reconstruction of blood vessel, the vascular surgery service is responsible for the medical care of patients with wide variety of vascular disorders including vasospastic diseases, hypercoagulable syndromes, large artery vasculitis, and other nonsurgical ischemic syndromes. Outpatients services are available and has been instrumental in centralizing the growing referral practice of complex vascular problems, coordinating multi-disciplinary management and treatment of patients? vascular disease and co-morbid conditions, and providing longitudinal follow-up. To serve the needs of vascular disease patients, state-of-the art, non-invasive examinations are directed by the vascular service at the Cardiac and Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory and are staffed with vascular nurse technologists and ultrasonographers. These individuals perform variety of tests based on Doppler ultrasound plethysmography and duplex ultrasonography with color imaging. Nearly 1,000 studies are performed yearly in the laboratory, which is fully compliant with the standards set by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.

Dialysis Access

The Division has the task of providing both peritoneal (Tenckoff Catheter insertion) and hemodialysis access such as Internal Jugular, Subclavian, Femoral, and Scribner Catheter insertion. Permanent access is provided by AV Fistula creation with or without Goretex graft interposition and Perm Cath.

Out-Patient Department

Monday to Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Annex Building.

Admissions in the Service Wards include pre-KT patients and those post-KY patients with medical and/or surgical morbidities.

Renal Transplant

Renal transplants are being advocated as the primary treatment for End-Stage Renal Disease. Patients should undergo pre-KT work-ups with their donors for at least a month before clearance for surgery.
Other Abdominal Transplant:
Liver transplants
Pancreas transplants
Small Bowel transplants
The Division performs ultrasound-guided percutaneous renal graft biopsy if indicated.

Training Program


Train Fellows in Transplant Surgery, program focusing on multi-organ transplant


Training in Transplant Surgery is fully accredited by the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS).


Two– year clinical and research fellowship
Emphasis on kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation and vascular access for dialysis
Provides a comprehensive experience in the pre-, intra and post-op care of transplant patients including immunosuppression, critical care and management of post-operative complications
Broad exposure to the medical and surgical management mainly on renal and hepatic transplants
