The Neurophysiology (EEG-EMG) Unit renamed as Neurophysiology, Muscle Spasticity and Dystonia Theraphy Unit provides diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Diagnostic procedures provided are Electroencephalography (includes EEG testing for Electrocerebral Silence or ECS) and Electromyography (includes motor and sensory nerve conduction studies, repetitive nerve stimulation or RNS, late responses, blink reflexes and needle electromyography).
Therapeutic procedures include Muscle Afferent Block and Botulinum Neurotoxin A Injections for muscle spasticity and selected dystonic conditions.
Our Electromyographers who are Board Certified Neurologists and Physiatrist with sub-specialty training in Clinical Electrophysiology, supervise the laboratory and perform the EMG procedures. Our staff of EMG technologists has been trained in the performance of the NSS and in assisting the electromyographer. They have also been attending seminars and conferences for updates.
